A Project Executive’s duties extend beyond the day-to-day tasks of a Project Manager to focus on long-term strategy, client relationships, and business alignment.
1. Strategic Oversight & Alignment
✓Strategic Planning: Aligning the project portfolio with the organization’s overarching business goals and mission.
✓Portfolio Management: Overseeing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing them based on strategic value, and allocating resources across the portfolio.
✓Executive Reporting: Preparing and presenting high-level status reports, risk assessments, and performance dashboards to C-suite executives and project sponsors.
2. Stakeholder & Client Management
✓Executive Liaison: Serving as the primary point of contact for high-value clients and senior internal stakeholders.
✓Expectation Management: Managing and negotiating client and executive expectations, ensuring contractual obligations are met, and identifying opportunities for growth or change.
✓Conflict Resolution: Intervening to resolve major roadblocks, scope creep, or resource conflicts that impact project success at the program level.
3. Financial & Risk Management
✓Budget Governance: Approving, monitoring, and controlling overall program budgets and ensuring projects achieve the expected return on investment (ROI).
✓Risk Mitigation: Identifying and developing strategies to mitigate high-level, systemic risks across the entire project portfolio.
✓Contract Management: Overseeing master service agreements, contracts, and vendor performance to protect organizational interests.
4. Leadership & Team Development
✓Leadership: Providing mentorship, guidance, and direct support to Project Managers and their teams.
✓Methodology Enforcement: Ensuring all projects adhere to established best practices, quality standards, and methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid, etc.).
