An Electrical Engineer Head of Department (HOD) is a high-level leadership role. Core Leadership ResponsibilitiesDepartment Oversight:
Manage the daily operations, resources, and resource allocation for the entire electrical engineering team.Technical Supervision: Approve complex electrical schematics, power system designs, calculations, and overall technical specifications.Strategic Planning: Establish departmental goals, engineering workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maximize efficiency.Budget Accountability: Create and manage the annual departmental budget, capital expenditures (CAPEX), and operational expenses (OPEX).Project Delivery: Monitor multiple engineering projects simultaneously to ensure deadlines, milestones, and client deliverables are met.Talent Development: Hire, mentor, train, and conduct performance evaluations for engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.Vendor & Client Management: Negotiate agreements with equipment manufacturers, specialized contractors, and primary project clients.Quality & Compliance: Enforce strict alignment with engineering standards, regulatory frameworks, and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IEC).
