Job Summary
We are looking for a creative and technically skilled Automotive Design Engineer – Concept Design to develop innovative automotive concepts from initial ideas through detailed design. The candidate should have strong knowledge of automotive product development, 3D CAD modeling, concept development, and design feasibility.
Key Responsibilities
Develop innovative automotive design concepts based on customer and project requirements.
Convert initial concepts, sketches, and ideas into detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies.
Work on automotive components and systems such as exterior, interior, body, closures, trims, and structural parts.
Create concept layouts, preliminary designs, packaging studies, and design proposals.
Conduct feasibility studies considering manufacturing, tooling, assembly, cost, weight, and performance.
Develop multiple design concepts and evaluate them based on technical and functional requirements.
Prepare 2D drawings, design specifications, and engineering documentation.
Perform basic GD&T, tolerance analysis, and tolerance stack-up where applicable.
Collaborate with styling, engineering, manufacturing, tooling, quality, and supplier teams.
Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into concept development.
Support prototype development, testing, validation, and design modifications.
Identify and resolve design issues during prototype and development stages.
Ensure designs comply with customer specifications, automotive standards, and project requirements.
Maintain design data, revisions, and engineering change documentation.
Key Skills & Technical Requirements
Required Technical Skills Strong knowledge of automotive product design and concept development. Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA V5
Siemens NX
Creo
SolidWorks
or equivalent. Good understanding of automotive components
assemblies
and vehicle packaging. Knowledge of DFM/DFA
GD&T
tolerance stack-up
and engineering drawings. Understanding of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal
injection molding
casting
forging
and machining. Ability to interpret customer requirements and convert them into engineering concepts. Strong 3D visualization and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of automotive materials and manufacturing feasibility will be an advantage.
