Solar O&M Technician (Operations & Maintenance Technician)
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Solar O&M Technician to perform the operation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimum performance, maximum energy generation, and compliance with safety standards across solar installations.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance of solar PV systems.
Monitor plant performance and ensure maximum energy generation.
Conduct cleaning, testing, and servicing of solar modules, inverters, transformers, and associated equipment.
Inspect cables, junction boxes, earthing systems, and mounting structures.
Record operational data and maintain maintenance logs.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
Diagnose and rectify faults in solar PV systems and electrical components.
Attend breakdowns and carry out corrective maintenance activities.
Troubleshoot inverter alarms, communication failures, and system performance issues.
Coordinate with OEM vendors for technical support and warranty claims when required.
Monitoring & Reporting
Monitor system performance through SCADA, monitoring software, and field inspections.
Analyse generation data and identify performance deviations.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
Report faults, downtime, and corrective actions to supervisors.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all electrical and workplace safety procedures.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and statutory regulations.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing maintenance activities.
Participate in safety drills and toolbox meetings.
Required Qualifications
Diploma or ITI in Electrical, Electronics, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
1-5 years of experience in solar plant operations and maintenance.
Knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, LT/HT panels, and electrical systems.
Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation.
Basic computer and reporting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in rooftop solar or utility-scale solar power plants.
Knowledge of SCADA systems and remote monitoring platforms.
Certification in Solar PV Installation or Renewable Energy Technologies.
Electrical licence (where applicable).
